About Dr. Mastella

Daniel J. Mastella, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and hand surgeon at The Hand Center in Hartford, Glastonbury, Tolland, and Bloomfield, Connecticut.

Dr. Mastella completed his undergraduate training at Georgetown University in Washington, DC, before earning his doctorate at the University of Connecticut in Mansfield. He then completed orthopedic surgery postgraduate training at the University of Connecticut and a hand surgery subspecialty fellowship at the Philadelphia Hand to Shoulder Center in Pennsylvania. After completing his postgraduate training, Dr. Mastella gained experience working at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and the Shriners Hospital for Children, both in Philadelphia.

Dr. Mastella is an assistant director of the University of Connecticut Hand Surgery Fellowship Program, an assistant clinical professor of orthopedic surgery at the University of Connecticut, director of the hand surgery service at Hartford Hospital, and medical director at the Glastonbury Surgery Center in Connecticut.

Dr. Mastella shares his knowledge through research presentations and in articles published in industry journals and textbooks. Dr. Mastella is a diplomate of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery with the added qualification in surgery of the hand, a member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, and the New England Hand Society. He is a founding member of the New England Shoulder and Elbow Society and the Hartford Hand Club.
